My 2020 Oscar Fashion Favorites

The stars did not come to play this Awards season! Though there is an evident lack of diversity represented at The Oscars each year, some celebrities use their platforms to try and inspire and create change. Of course one of my favorite things of The Oscars is the fashion. This year did not disappoint, Singer Janelle Monae donned a sleek and shimmering Ralph Lauren gown at the 92nd Academy Awards red carpet on Sunday evening. The gown—complete with an open back, long sleeves, and a draped hood—the custom A-line creation was constructed with over 168,000 Swarovski crystals and demanded over 600 hours of hand embroidery in order to complete the jaw-dropping look. “Killing Eve” Star Sandra Oh is presenting in Elie Saab couture and Pomellato jewels. Watchmen actress Regina King stunned in a custom pink Armani Privé gown, she will also be presenting at the 2020 Oscars.

Natalie Portman made a statement on the Oscars red carpet, with her Dior cape embroidered with the names of women who directed movies last year — and weren’t nominated for the 92nd Academy Awards. I love people using their platforms to promote equality. “Little Women” Star Florence Pugh stood out In a vibrant tiered teal Louis Vuitton gown and matching shoes. I love a good comeback, Renée Zellweger turned heads in a white sequined one-shoulder Armani Privé. It then flowed into a poofy princess skirt that had a slit up the left leg, showing off her white Stuart Weitzman platform heels. Comedian Kristen Wiig rounds out my favorite looks with a avant-garde Valentino Haute Couture red gown with black opera gloves and Nikos Koulis jewels. Each year we see these stars step in front of the camera looking flawless head to toe, but remember they have a team of people who make sure they do. I find Inspiration in each designer creations, and it reminds me why I fell in love with fashion to begin with.
