My experience at the 2021 Soul Train Awards.
I truly believe in the power of manifestations, the power of thoughts, the power of my energy. I recently started journaling again after months of depression and felt such a shift in my life. I wrote a detailed manifestation list last month, from losing weight to attending awards shows. Listing all the things that I would like to accomplish and things that would bring me joy, the very next day I get an email inviting me to the soultrain awards! I was besides myself, but also not surprised; I’ve manifested so many amazing opportunities and felt very grateful. I had so many thoughts about whether or not I should go,…

The Museum Of Ice Cream NYC
After such a grueling winter, and with spring right around the corner my need to be outside seems to be growing. With my hand sanitizer on deck, my pink mask on and my camera ready, I headed downtown to check out the instagram famous Museum of Ice Cream. I was weary about booking a weekend afternoon, but to my surprise there wasn’t much of a line. Dolled up in my favorite pink velour suit, I was totally monochromatic to the pink themed rooms. The staff is super friendly and though some areas are off limits due to covid measures, you were able to explore the rooms leisurely. There’s about 8…

Dr. Martens Presents: OSHUN. #drmartenspresents returns with more free concerts that showcase musicians from DIY music scenes across the country.
The past few years I’ve really dig deep into discovering who I really am, diving into studying my ancestors and my culture. One of the many things I found interesting is their love of the earth, and the spiritual universe that surrounds us. In this journey I discovered Oshun, an orisha, a spirit, a deity, or a goddess that reflects one of the manifestations of the Yorùbá Supreme Being in the Ifá oral literature and Yoruba-based religions. She is one of the most popular and venerated orishas. Oshun is an important river deity among the Yorùbá people, divine feminine, fertility, beauty and love. Embracing this side of myself I honored…

More Rosè please!!! Rosè Mansion is back and better than ever! With 14 Instagrammable rooms & more wine!!!
As you know I love my pop-ups! They’re fun and cute and honestly have become an adult playground. I didn’t always like getting in front of the camera, dealing with eating disorders and body dysmorphia wasn’t easy. Something that’s helped me deal with my depression and anxiety is stepping out of my comfort zone and trying new things. This year for my 36th Birthday I decided to go to Rosè Mansion; a cute interactive pop-up that brings wine tasting to the city. I got all dolled up with the hubby (who is my amazing photographer) and explored the 14 rooms of the experience. Let me tell ya it was a…

The Confetti Project’s Mental Health Awareness Series: What do you celebrate?
About a year my journey of embracing my mental health, starting therapy and medication began. Putting down my guards and embracing my healing, allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. I tried to start showing this transparency on my social media accounts and the response was amazing. One of the motivational accounts I follow (@shinetext) and love reached out to me. I was shocked they even noticed me, let alone admitting to love my account. They invited to me a breakfast they were having to launch their mental health awareness campaign. Something happens when you shift your mindset from victim to survivor, from negative to positive, you attract…

She Embodies Empowerment & Self Love thru her art: Meet Up & Coming Artist Elisa Valenti.
Last weekend I was thrilled to have the opportunity to check out the Superfine Art Fair in SoHo, courtesy of NYC Unplugged. Greeted at the door warmly by staff, I observed artists and patrons intermixed admiring art and exchanging thoughts. It was honestly such a pleasant vibe in there, I allowed my eyes to wander the different types of art displayed. The lighting was amazing, plants adorned bamboo chairs and I felt transported to an oasis. One area caught my eye more than the rest. My eyes locked onto a beautiful portrait of a plus sized woman in a bubble bath, blissfully eating a slice of pizza. That woman was…

Take me out to the ballgame! Family Sunday’s at Citi Field.
One of my first childhood memories was going to a Mets game with my Father. We sat all the way up top, he told me that’s where the real fans sit. I remember the excitement I felt as I caught a foul ball, and the energy of the crowd, eating Nathan’s hot dogs, ah to be young again. I wanted to share those memories with my children, and I was so excited to visit Citi Field with them. The best part is they now have a Mets Kids Club with perks such as complimentary tickets and free swag. This was not their first game but it was definitely their favorite,…

Meta • Morph • O, Sis: Author Evelyn Caree’s touching poetry book.
Evelyn Carree is the author of the poetry book Meta • Morph • O, Sis. Her poetry was initially within the pages of her journal which acted as a confidant to her each day. Writing was her way of understanding her deepest emotions and learning to accept her reality as a rape survivor. Today, she lives to bring light around the conversation of Sexual Violence and hopes to connect with survivors around the world. Evelyn Carree was raised by a single mother with 4 brothers in Arlington, TX. Many obstacles approached her throughout her youth. Art became a vessel of healing, a place of refuge; this place was composed of…

Hudson Yards: The Vessel, NYC newest must-see view!
The extraordinary centerpiece of Hudson Yards is its spiral staircase, a soaring new landmark meant to be climbed. This interactive design piece was imagined by Thomas Heatherwick and Heatherwick Studio as a focal point where people can enjoy new perspectives of the city and one another from different heights, angles and vantage points. Comprised of 154 intricately interconnecting flights of stairs — almost 2,500 individual steps and 80 landings — with neatly one mile of vertical climb above the Public Square and Gardens, this landmark will offer remarkable views. There is also an elevator available, if the climb is too much. I have to come back during sunset to catch…
